Owed 22 mil for 2013. Should be a cap hit of $11 mil for 2013 and should put me under the cap to allow for FA participation

11 million penalty, but it is spread out over two years, so 5.5M in 2013 and 2014

Isn't he responsible for the entire $22M being its before the all-star break. So that would be $11M per? ?

Actually it's says on a 1yr deal your responsible for all in the 1yr if its before the all star break or 1/2 if its after the all star break. So the entire $22M would be eaten this year. Some clarification on this would be good.

No. This is right. The wording can be confusing. Before ASB, you owe the entire half of the salary. After ASB, you only owe half of the half that you owe. Basically 1/4.

Before the all star break, you pay the penalty based on the full salary. After the all star break you pay the penalty based on half the salary. The penalty is 1/2..So before the all star break it is a 1/2 penalty on the full salary, and after its a 1/2 penalty on 1/2 of the salary so its like 1/4 like Yanks said

"For any player cut, you must pay half of their salary for the rest of their contract spread out over the next 2 years, unless the player is on a one year deal, then you would just pay the fee that year."
He is on a 1yr deal....^ this is from the rules.
