How many games does a player need to play to retain that eligibility from one year to the next?

dont quote me but since we are using espn from my past knowledge of how it works it is 10 games to get the eligibility but is 20 to keep it for the next year. as for the rookies and guys call up in september its hard to tell how it goes but say in case of eaton,he had LF then got CF, but since he played 20 i n cf im assuming he loses the LF for next year.

Thanks. I think that is a default setting and can be changed. But don't quote me... 20 is standard, wouldn't mind 10.. Thanks!

To Retain a players position for the following season he must get (20) starts at that position.During the season to gain a new position he must get (10) starts at that position. So some guys will have SS or LF during the season and then lose them the following season to begin because they had 14-15 starts or whatever.

Additionally I believe: If the player was his first year, he just needs 10 i believe to keep it

If we are going by ESPN guidelines... heres their rules right off their rules page...
Additional positional eligibility for Batters occurs when one of the following conditions is met: • Games played at a position during last season: 20 • Games played at a position during current season: 10 (The eligibility will take place on the 11th day, even if no game is played that day)
NOTE: For a batter to be considered eligible for Outfield (OF) he must play at least ten games in any outfield position (RF, CF, LF or any combo of the three, totaling 10). For example, at one point in 2009, Gary Sheffield (DH) played four games in Left Field and six games in Right Field. The total was ten, so he would be OF eligible. Positional Eligibility for Pitchers Additional positional eligibility for Pitchers occurs when one of the following conditions is met: •Pitching appearances last season: 5 starts / 8 relief •Pitching appearances during current season: 3 starts / 5 relief
